Mike Viano

Mike Viano (GHS Class of 1976) was a four-year track and cross-country athlete at GHS.  In high school, he won 4^th place at the IHSA State Track Meet in the 3200 M race.  Mike also holds the school record in the 3200 M.  After high school, Viano went to Lincoln Land Community College for two years where he was a 4-time NJCAA state track and cross-country champion.  After Lincoln Land, Mike went to Valdosta State University and Eastern Illinois University for one year each.  He was a member of the NCAA Division II National Championship Team for two years. 

After college, Mike has continued his running and racing career.  He has been a member of the Nike Racing Teams for ten years and has ran in the Boston Marathon three times.  He is currently training for the London Marathon. 

With all these racing accolades, Mike continues to work in the track and field business.  He is the CEO of “First to the Finish” which is a major athletic equipment supplier that works with schools both locally and nationally.
