Bob Boston

Bob Boston, a 1966 graduate of Gillespie High School, is the most prolific scorer ever to take a shot at “The Pit.”  His passing abilities on the football field were just as memorable.  While roaming the halls of GHS, Boston played four years of basketball and four years of football.  Bob is the all-time leading scorer at GHS amassing over 2000 career points including 805 points during the 1966 season.  From 1963-19666, Boston led the Miners to a 62-18 record, 2 Macoupin County Championships, and a sectional final appearance on the hardwood.  He was named to All-Conference teams and an All-State Honorable Mention.  As a junior and senior, Bob quarterbacked the Miners to a 16-1-2 record, threw for 1000 yards both years, and was named to both All-Conference and All-State (Honorable Mention) Teams.  With these talents, Boston had scholarship offers from the University of Missouri, St. Louis University, Northwestern, Air Force, Memphis State, Princeton, Purdue and LSU just to name a few.  Bob would eventually choose the University of Missouri where he would play both basketball and football for two years.
