Gordon Hartweger

Gordon Hartweger, a 1957 graduate of GHS, was a three-sport standout for the Miners in the mid-1950s.  Hartweger was a member of the basketball, track, and baseball teams for all four years of his high school career.  Hartweger was an integral part of the basketball team and helped the team win back-to-back County Tournament Championships in 1955 and 1956.  Gordon was selected for the all-conference team, and he helped the Miners to a combined record of 68-19 during his varsity time.  After high school, Hartweger attended St. Louis University where he played basketball for four years.  He was lucky enough to play in the 1961 NIT Finals and averaged 10.1 points that season. He was the team Captain and selected as MVP.  Gordon was also an assistant coach at SLU for 5 years.
